It has been a couple of weeks since we have been at the farm. We had bad weather and last weekend I had to go to a funeral. By the way, funerals suck! It either brings out the best or worst in people and I witnesses both. Ugh!!!!
On a higher note, we were at the farm this weekend and we had wonderful weather. It was cold at night, but no wind and the day time temperatures were in the 60s. Couldn't ask for better weather.
The bummer part of the weekend is that I forgot the camera. Yep, the only picture I got was with the phone, so not so good.
We did get some work done on the barn. We have 3 ceiling joist up. At first glance, I bet you are saying; '3' ALL weekend? Yes, we got '3'. First they are 25' 2x6s. It was John and I ONLY, trying to get the ceiling joists up the ladder and placed properly. Between the two of us we have 2 good shoulders, so we didn't do that bad.
As I was reminded this weekend, it is a project that we are going to experience and have fun with and not worry about the speed in which the barn goes up. So based on that comment, you can only surmise that I was not happy with the speed we were progressing. The project was put into perspective which I did appreciate by my lovely husband. I do have problems with little progress. My nature is to get things done and get on to something else, but building a barn on the weekends does not lend itself to that way of thinking.
We also tilled more garden and planted potatoes.
As usual we learned something this weekend. Our dogs are psycho. Our 5 lb poodle HATES the nail gun. Literally attacks it. Will race across high grass, dips in the ground (which is big if you are small) just to try to bite the heck out of the gun. In contrast my 65 lb lab hates the gun and any loud noise and runs away as fast as possible and wants to get in the truck for safety. Tyke has no idea he is tiny, Sandy has no idea she is large! After Tyke continually attached the gun, Sandy decided that peer pressure was a little much and the sheer embarrassment of getting one upped by a poodle, Sandy decided to chime in as the picture shows below. This is the closest Sandy has ever been to the gun.
This is not a great picture, but this is Tyke running after the nail gun.
