Luv

John has to put up a lot with me.  I am constantly taking pictures and he is usually my subject.  While he is hot and sweaty I am taking picture of him while I am drinking a glass of tea.  (I would like to point out that I at least make the tea.)

Since we planted some Bermuda we now have a patch of grass to mow, so John now needs to mow in addition to everything.

This is him researching his next project, building a cabin on the other side of the pond.  Which was my idea and where he will have to do most of the work.  For those of you who have not seen the land across the pond, there is no truck access, so he has to move everything by four wheeler  Why do you ask, well because I think it would be cool.  And my Luv said OK.

Yeah, there is really not much you can say about this one.  Yes, he has a loaf of bread hanging from his backside.  I really have no idea why!  Just seemed picture worthy.

And finally one night, seems he hit his limit and flew the bird at ME.  So if anyone knows my rules of engagement when your spouse is not happy with you, I WON!  He cursed at me, although silently, it was still a curse.  One more example of our competitive nature.  I will have to say that I was very proud of myself for hours after this.

Disasters in the Garden

Here is the worlds smallest pumpkin.  My pumpkin plants did really well but for some reason only one pumpkin actually survived to adult hood, but mine seems to be midget size.  It is the size of a
cantaloupe.

Deer! Deer! Deer!  It seems there is a whole herd that lives at the farm although I have never seen them.  Not only do they appears to be very hungry they are very stealthy.  This is what okra looks like after dinner for a deer.

Before dinner time!

So I went in and did my home work on the internet and it appears not much deters deer, so I got desperate.  I read that deer do not like foliage that smells so it said to hang a bar of Irish Spring soap from the plants and it would keep the deer away.  Well, we hung 12 bars in the orka and guess what....they were full of crap.  The deer not only kept eating, but started pulling up the plants.  Lesson, if it sounds stupid it probably is.  But after the rain, I have the cleanest garden within a hundred miles and it does smell good.

Our corn was the next disaster.  We did have a few good ears of corn, but many looked like the first picture.  It would have been great if you only had 4 teeth in your mouth, it would be plenty of corn.

Another Fred 'Really'

One evening it appears that Fred was exhausted and started blowing bubble from his drool.  (Sorry not a great picture).  You might have to look close but it is there.

Yes, I know everyone reading this is wishing they had a dog as talented as Fred.

You may also notice that I don't write as much about my other dogs.  Well, I can only say they don't do such disgusting things.

Time to Harvest

Well potatoes and onions were ready to pick which means we must now work our buns off to get everything canned/frozen.

This year I tried something new with the onions.  Beside frozen and just letting them dry, I pickled them.  Which I really like on sandwiches.  Also made onion soup.

One of my creative was putting them in a braid.

The canned potatoes are great!  They are just like fresh when eaten from the jar.

What to do with eggplant?  I decided to pickle and it wasn't bad.

Then there was the green beans.  Our family likes them so much, wasn't much to do but eat them.

And then there was the sauerkraut from the cabbage.  As bad as letting the cabbage sit in a salt bath on the counter for a month sounds, it doesn't taste bad.

Ferdinand My Garden Gnome

I think every garden needs a garden gnome and mine is Ferdinand the Frog.  While I work in the garden he watches over me.  If you notice, he is smiling.  He likes his picture taken.

Annual Crawfish Boil

My wonderful sister and her husband decided one year to have a crawfish boil.  I really can't remember why, but we all had such a good time the family (not them I sincerely believe) decided to make it an annual event.  So this year, as in other years we had a blast.

Nothing like licking the glass door.  Yep, he did that.

 Pool time!

Busted lip time - every party has at least one person who needs an ice pack.

And then there was the food.  I would like to point out that Nikki and I peeled all that garlic.

 The Mud-bugs.

Lynn, working non-stop.

Debbie working non-stop.

The rest of us 'just playing'!

Let the eating begin!

This is our newest puppy in the family.  As many of you know about our family, you can't really have to many dogs.

The newest member of the family, this little bundle of joy plans to come to her first official crawfish boil next year.

Tree House

John has started the tree house.  As usual it has gone from a platform design to a four wall, roof design with the possibility of a rope bridge to another tree.  Yeah, I just have the energy for the platform, because ALL this work is on a ladder and I am not fond of ladder work (as anyone who as read my blog knows.)

Action shot of John working and me taking pictures.

The start of the floor!

The first person to stand on the tree house.  I think he was a little worried that it would not hold his weight but not even a wobble.

Two tired dogs bum to bum on the couch.  Yeah, that left no room for John nor I.

Another pretty flower.
